Reading For Fun Worksheet: Checklist of Things

Updated: Mar 31, 2019

Time for a new worksheet. And I was thinking fun and quirky as opposed to classic. So instead of having a bunch of lines to write about the book, I have a bunch of check-boxes to mark things about the book.

I give you: Checklist of Things

When I make these worksheets I hope that every kid will have at least one they find enjoyable to fill out about the books they read.

I know that every kid is different. While some will love to write out tons of information in different boxes, other kids might enjoy something more flexible and engaging.

And so the idea for a checklist of different options popped into my head and I ran with it.

At the top of the worksheet is space for the book title and author as well as a summary.

Under that are the five star outlines to fill in the rating.

And then the checklist begins. It's as easy as reading the supplied ideas and marking a check, or coloring the box in, if they think it applies to the book.

I tried to get a mix of ideas, starting with: An intriguing cover.

Then I moved onto different aspects of the story with: A great main character, Fun supporting characters, A problem to solve, A good ending, A fun to read writing style, and Good dialogue.

After that, I shifted to types of scenes with: A scary scene, A heartfelt moment, and A funny part.

Lastly, I added aspects of the book like: Adventure, Spying, Magic, Drama, Animals, Family, Friendship, and Traveling.

But of course, I'm not going to be able to list everything. So I left an 'other' box with lines where kids can write in their own ideas of what they deem is worthy enough to make the list.

And there you have it! Another worksheet to add in the mix.
