Reading For Fun Worksheet: Halloween

Updated: Dec 17, 2018

With Halloween approaching, I think it's the perfect time for a worksheet to match the holiday. So, without further ado, I give you: Halloween #1.

Please note: Below is only a picture. I am unable to put PDFs on my blog—but no worries, click HERE to print the PDF version of this worksheet. All worksheets on my site are free!

As always, at the top, is a space for the book title and author but for extra Halloween fun, a witch silhouette hovers by the corner. Although the theme of the page is Halloween, this worksheet works for any kind of book.

Under the title and author are three ghostly signs where kids have the chance to pick three words that describe the book. If can be any word about anything that comes to mind. This is a great conversation starter, asking about what each word means and why they picked it.

Next are three different sections in a row. One, asking about the child's favorite scene. Two, a checkbox if they would consider the book scary (I wouldn't even object if both boxes got marked—some books are both scary and not scary depending on the elements involved). And lastly, what they plan to be for Halloween this year. How fun will it be to look back and not only remember Halloween but what book they were reading during that time of the year?

Next are a few lines for a summary of the book. Whether a few words are written, the entire box, or perhaps even the entire backside of the page is filled, having something to remember what they got out of the book is a great thing.

And lastly, at the bottom is a five-star outline to give kids a chance to rate how much they enjoyed the book.

There you have it! If you'd like to print out this worksheet click below, there is also a landscape version available. All worksheets on my site are free!

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween!
